Grant Accountant

JOB SUMMARY

Perform professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions and budgetary control for assigned funds and departments. Prepare financial report statements and analyses. Ensuring that grants and expenditures are within budget.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate monthly billing.
    • Create timely billing for All Pay sources and secure records for reference.
    • Prepare other Government Claims.
  • Prepare monthly claims for the Government and other outside agencies.
    • Ensure accuracy and timelines of claims.
    • Ensure all monthly, quarterly, semi-annual reports are completed.
    • Generate other related reports for government and outside funding sources.
  • Assist in preparation of financial reports, statements and analyses.
    • Assist with financial statements to include balance sheet, income statement,
  • financial position/budget variances by 10 working days after month closing.

  • Assist in preparation of Audit reports, for budget 8 grants statements and analysis.
    • Ensure all reconciliations are completed prior to fieldwork.
    • Assist auditors during their field work and analysis.
    • Prepare financial reports.
    • Prepare Board reports.
  • Assist with general and fiscal operations.
    • Cross train to assist other staff.
    • As needed, assist with other functions.
  • Ability to follow through on work assignments.

  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with the public and to
  • remain calm under stress.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A. or A.A.S. degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience.
  • Accredited college or business school courses in accounting functions and
  • applications with at least three-years paid employment experience as Jr. Accountant
  • or Bookkeeper.
  • Hands on experience and working knowledge of computer soft/hardware and
  • applications, specifically: Automated accounting packages Excel and Word.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and independent
  • assignments.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Human relations skills to deal effectively with clients, outside agencies and staff.
