JOB SUMMARY

Assists the student in daily activities by managing the student behavior.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the supervision of the BCBA Behavioral Specialist must be able to carry out a behavior plan consistent with the philosophy and goals of the Northside Therapeutic Early Childhood Center.
  • The Behavior Shadow assists the student as indicated by behavior plan and in accordance with the instruction from the BCBA Behavior Specialist.
  • The Behavior Shadow assists students with all aspects throughout the day.
  • The Behavior Shadow accurately records the daily individual goal work of student as per instruction from the Teacher/ BCBA Behavior Specialist as well as directed in Behavior plan.
  • The Behavior Shadow performs record keeping/documentation functions on students assigned by the teacher.
  • The Behavior Shadow Sets up specific activities/programs as instructed by the Teacher/BCBA Behavior Specialist per the lesson/program for the individual student.
  • The Behavior Shadow is expected to have specialized behavioral training, ongoing support and training from the BCBA Behavior Specialist.
  • The Behavior Shadow is to attend meetings and special in-services training as directed by the BCBA Behavior Specialist or designated school staff member.
  • The Behavior Shadow accepts and uses correction, supervision, and training to improve job performance and/or to learn new skills.
  • The Behavior Shadow adheres to lunch break schedule as assigned by the supervising teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities in an educational or healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of instructional or therapeutic techniques and strategies to support student/client learning and development.
  • Ability to follow instructions from professionals and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with students/clients and build positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students/clients and the team.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.
