Custodian/ Food Handler

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a diligent custodial professional with over experience in maintaining cleanliness and order. Skilled in performing routine cleaning tasks, organizing supplies, and troubleshooting equipment issues Proven track record of ensuring a safe and sanitary environment froe staff and visitors.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates food preparation, service and clean up.

• Carries out safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.

• Maintaining proper storage and control of waste, including recycling.

• Adheres to CACFP nutritional guidelines and works in cooperation with parents and

Head Start Staff.

• Assist with the purchasing and maintaining proper receiving of foods.

• Assists with record keeping-purchases, inventory, and meals served etc.

• Maintains equipment and kitchen area

• Participates in all appropriate meetings and trainings.

• Assists with classroom food related learning activities.

• Coordinates and plans refreshments during socializations activities.

• Assists in planning menu, preparing, and serving food for evening center events.

• Performs cleaning tasks such as dusting, washing windowsills, furniture, play

equipment, and storage closets

• Empty garbage cans and wash and disinfect.

• Sweep and mop floors throughout the premises, including spaces under cabinets.

• Reset the classrooms at the end of each day.

• Perform snow removal and appearance of grounds.

• Wash and disinfect all bathrooms, bowls, basins, and floor fixtures.

• Refill soap, toilet paper, and paper towels, as needed.

• Sweep front of facility and playground daily.

• Storing of cleaning supplies

• Check inventory of cleaning supplies regularly and order as needed

• Assist as needed

• Replace light bulbs when necessary.

• Maintain safety precautions for the electrical outlets.

• Check all fire extinguishers required.

• Check all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as required.

• Stripping and buffing of floors as required.

• Assist with delivery and storage of program supplies, equipment, and materials

• Conduct all minor (light work) repairs as necessary.

• Report additional (extensive) repairs to the appropriate personnel

• Assist in maintaining, sorting, and distributing classroom and office supplies.

• Operates the agency's vehicles to transport supplies/equipment, and staff.

• Maintains transportation logs to record use and destinations of the vehicles.

• Ensures the vehicles are cleaned regularly and in optimal conditions.

• Performs other job duties as assigned

• Participate in meetings and trainings as needed

• May be required to work flexible hours as needed to perform various tasks based

on program needs or emergency conditions

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

• Possession of Food Handler's Certificate.

• Clean NYS Driver's License

• Previous related experience in general custodial duties such as cleaning, repairing and

painting, housekeeping and general maintenance.

• Ability to work with children and parents
